What will I be doing?
We are pleased to host lithographer Simon Burder to teach at HAUSPRINT. The course is a fantastic opportunity to learn with a real specialist. This one day course is specially for those who are curious to discover the basics of lithography.
Taught in a small group of 4 students, you will learn the basics of lithography and have lots of opportunity to ask questions and really understand the process. On this one-day introduction you will work together to prepare, draw, process and print one large stone, with each person drawing on one quarter of the stone.
You will learn how to grind a stone, and some of the history of how the process was discovered and used initially, then how to prepare the stone for drawing. Simon will describe the drawing materials and demonstrate the different drawing tools. You will make a drawing at approximately A5 size, then learn how to etch the stone.
The stone needs to be left for a short period of time- we will have lunch and then look at some examples of lithography.
Then you will ink and print the stone, working in pairs.
You will have a some prints to take home by the end of the day.
