What will I be doing?
The year will focus on consolidating your etching knowledge, on developing ideas, and on ways to bring ideas and technique together. There will be group discussion, group crit and one-to-one tutorial opportunities which will focus on how to develop your work.
Term 1 and Term 2 will revisit and reinforce technique, and introduce some new but related techniques. There will be short projects designed to allow you to explore composition, tone, texture, drawing and colour. You will gain confidence in making alterations and changes, and to incorporate this into your image making.
You’ll revisit and consolidate etching techniques, hard and soft grounds, aquatint techniques including box, spitbite and sugar lift, stop outs and resists, as well as how to prepare paper and print to a professional standard. The year finishes with an exciting opportunity to plan an end-of-year public exhibition with your course mates, giving you something to work towards and celebrate together.
