With a lot of help from you – our 2024 Crowdfunder story
In May 2024 we ran a Crowdfunder appeal to raise £10,000 for two new presses and improvements to the studio. We are thrilled to say that we exceeded our target with donations of over £11,500.
Etching Year | 40 weeks | Mondays | September 2024
This Monday evening class is a unique opportunity to build your etching skills over the course of a year. The HAUSPRINT Etching Year is designed to provide stable building blocks for your printmaking future, whatever your starting point. Over 40 weeks you’ll be guided through a specialist programme delivered over three terms which teaches the principles of etching.
On Siss / Phuss: Ziqi Xu in conversation with Livia Wang
“It’s all because I want to see myself, I want to see those unnoticed moments, how they pass by, what is really happening. So that makes the work very personal.”
New name, new website
When we set up SLAUGHTERHAUS Print Studio in 2010, we named it after the building. Redesigning our website in 2024 was also the perfect time to launch our new name, HAUSPRINT.
Etching: Soft Ground | 3 Tuesday evenings | Oct & Nov 2024
For those wanting to explore etching but feel the pressure of drawing, our three evening course investigates texture, pattern and mark-making through soft ground.
Collecting the Looking
“I love drawing really quickly. I love drawing in really difficult situations. I love drawing in the dark. I like what happens when you can’t see everything or when it’s passed and you have to remember it rather than drawing what it actually looks like, so it’s about the experience of looking as much as what I’m looking at.”
We talk to Michelle Avison about building a resilient artistic practice over 30 years.
Artist talk: Sarah Gillett
In this podcast episode released by Fermynwoods Contemporary Art, Sarah Gillett talks about her research on how astronauts dream, the promise of future seances, and the joy of collaboration.
“I think all visual art is a metaphor”
Following a previous career as a forensic psychiatrist, James Anderson’s colourful carborundum and layered woodcuts convey the emotion of inner worlds. We discuss abstraction, inspiration and the hard work of practice with him.
Artist talk: Helen Breach
In this video presentation, Helen talks about the different ways in which she explores the world around her through drawing, painting and printmaking, including looking at dancers in rehearsal, the natural environment and portraiture.

Carborundum | 4 days | August 2024
Explore carborundum plate making and printing techniques over 4 consecutive days. Working on acrylic plates you will learn how to use carborundum grit and painting mediums to achieve painterly, textural marks, resulting in rich, vibrant prints.
Monotype with water washable inks | 3 Saturdays | October 2024
Explore monotype printing over three mornings at HAUSPRINT. This course is designed to give you a really good understanding of using water washable printing inks to make painterly monotypes.
Brushworks 2
This is one of two prints (Brushstrokes 1 and 2) which differ only in the colour range. As the title suggests I was interested in the way brushstrokes have their own emotional and expressive language; in this print influenced by the different colours and printmaking techniques.
Tide (Vertical) no.18
The Tide (Vertical) I-C series of monotypes were made in the studio, responding to 100 watercolour paintings made in Scotland in the summer of 2021. They record changes to the sea, the tide and the weather. In their making, controlled accident and chance combine with painterly mark making to make new landscapes. The print describes being in the moment, observing the sea, it captures the feeling of being there, watching the sea, immersed in it.
